Ambient fabrication of perovskite solar cells

Hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite solar cells are exciting with their high efficiency comparable to Silicon solar cells, wide range of light harvesting, good temperature coefficient, and fast-low cost solution processing. However, stability is one of the bottlenecks limiting commercialization. We aim at probing realistic operational stability as well as improving device components to tackle the stability issue. Moreover, we hope to expand usage of these perovskite materials in other applications.

Green rechargeable batteries

Zn is one of the promising materials to be used as an anode in batteries due to its high volumetric density, abundance of materials, safety, and low-cost, especially for stationary storage applications. Nevertheless, capacity fading problems and short cycle life limit real implementation. Not only are we interested in developing low-cost and reliable Zn-based: Zn-ion, Zn-flow, and Zn-iodine batteries, but also investigating operational behavior and mechanisms under realistic conditions.

Integrated energy conversion and storage system

With the ultimate goal of renewable energy device implementation, our group incorporates energy conversion and energy storage devices together to probe each technology and study the interaction between the two towards real world utilization.
